# Keep Codex on the plan. Let Codemind write the routine code.

Codemind is a build service Codex calls over MCP. Codex sends a title and acceptance criteria, Codemind writes the code and tests it against them, and the files come back for Codex to write into your project. After your free allowance a verified build costs $0.10. A build that fails costs nothing.

## Set it up in one paste

No sign-up and no key. A free account is created when Codex connects. Needs Codex CLI 0.160.1 or newer.

- ### Copy the setup prompt Use the button at the top of this page.
- ### Paste it into Codex Codex asks you to add a short entry to your Codex config file, because it sits outside the project. Add it, then restart Codex from a new terminal.
- ### Delegate your first task Ask Codex to build something small. It confirms the connection first by listing your builds.

## Quickstart: set it up yourself

Want an account that survives restarts? In a terminal, run:

curl -fsS https://api.codemindhq.dev/install/codemind-setup.sh -o codemind-setup.sh && CODEMIND_UTM_SOURCE=site CODEMIND_UTM_MEDIUM=landing-page CODEMIND_UTM_CAMPAIGN=codex sh codemind-setup.sh codex

It creates a free account, saves the key in your shell profile and adds the server to config.toml in your Codex home directory, the only file Codex reads. Restart Codex from a new terminal and run codex mcp list to see the codemind entry. Open the claim link it prints, so the account has an owner.

Codex needs a recent CLI with remote MCP support: 0.160.1 works, 0.27.0 has no remote MCP.

To check it works, ask Codex to call the Codemind tool list_builds. An empty list means you are connected.

## What Codex gets from it

- ### Your usage goes on planning and review The writing and testing happen on our side, off your Codex usage.
- ### Several tasks at once Codex sends a task and moves on to the next. On Free, 2 builds run side by side.
- ### Tested before it comes back Code is checked against tests written from your acceptance criteria. Code that fails doesn't reach your session.
- ### Change files you already have Send the current file with the task and get the complete modified file back.

## Questions

Does Codemind replace Codex? No. Codex still plans the work and edits your project. Codemind takes the tasks it delegates and returns code that has already been tested.

How do I connect Codex to Codemind?Paste the setup prompt into Codex and follow what it tells you. Or use the quickstart above. The server is https://api.codemindhq.dev/mcp.

Do I need to sign up?No. A free account is created when Codex connects. Restarting starts a new free account, so use the quickstart if you want one that lasts.

What do I pay when a build fails?Nothing. You pay only for verified builds, and builds inside your free allowance cost nothing either way.

Which languages does it build?JavaScript and TypeScript, including Cloudflare Workers, Node and React. Other languages aren't supported yet.

What if my key stops working?Ask Codex to call get_usage_guide with topic auth and follow it.
